The history of GDI in Kernel and userspace
by freedom_india (780002)

The problem with XP, NT 4.0 and benefits of NT 3.5 and Vista is the GDI running in UserSpace versus kernel.
Up until NT 3.5 the GDI was run under user space. Hence if the driver crashed, you don't get a BSOD which signifies a kernel panic.
The reason why Windows GDI was placed in userspace was because NT 3.5 was also capable of supporting other UI like POSIX UI(which never came to be), and OS/2 UI. So theoritically you could run the NT kernel on a OS/2 GUI or even POSIX GUI if available.
With its infinite wisdom and going against the advice of Helen Custer and NT Architect, Microsoft threw the GDI into Kernel for quicker response times (official reason). The real reason was OS/2 was licked and Microsoft wanted to be a monopoly (without knowing that EU will kick its ass in future). So it threw out POSIX developments (it still remains in basic limited form to be of any real use, much like a Bank's IVR).

Why would you NOT clean-install Windows 7? You can't even upgrade XP from SP1 to SP2 without a clean install if you want your computer to WORK! Are us windows users REALLY so absolutely opposed to doing things CORRECTLY?! (Obviously, right? If we wanted to do things correctly, we'd be running LINUX!)

btw, one of my three XP boxes reached 4 months of uptime last night. Not that I'm trying, I just don't have need to reboot it. Seems rather impressive, for a non-server version of windows.

Any upgrade of a OS over an existing one is akin to putting on one condom over another and hoping that you don't catch HIV, while at the same time wanting to experience the pleasure of not wearing any condom at all.

What will really happen...
by freedom_india (780002)

No you dumbass. That's how scientists think. Here's how we will *actually* there:
Let's go over it one more time shall we?
1) Chinese space probe to mars discovers enormous deposits of Gold/Pure Gasoline/or some valuable shit
2) Chinese probe hacked by NSA, findings sent to Obama/Palin who decide to act on it.
3) NASA budget quadrupled, Congress told there would be riots in cities if Godless Chinese were to conquer the Final Frontier.
3.a Father jonathan, O'reilly and Rove talk about "bringing the rich to the People of the Free World and Defending Mars against enemies of Freedom."
4) Congress passes a law authorising use of necessary means to "Bring the Riches of Free Planet Mars to democratic nations of the World."
5) Senate vetoes the proposal stating that it lacks medical insurance for mine workers and their children.
6) Congress appropriates $152 billion to pay for Miners Medical Guarantee Plan.

Yes, and here's why
by freedom_india (780002)

Yes. And you were brought in by a blue stork onto your parents' doorstep from a land far, far beyond, where daisies and lillies grow beautifully well, where dinosaurs and deers ate together at the Golden Pool.
Then one mighty day, Lord the God, finished developing the rest of the real-estate (WoW), and wanted to let Adam & Eve and everyone out to make room for Himself.
However, the Golden Pool and the excellent infrastructure in the Garden of Love were too good to make any of them voluntarily leave.
So the God had to boot Adam & Eve out of the Garden by throwing a snake upon them, which made Eve scream and rush out of the Garden followed by Adam. Eve refused to go back into the Garden when persuaded to do so by Adam and told him he wouldn't get any "dessert" if he did not move out with her.
So Adam had to move out to keep the "desserts" coming.

Re:So let's say...
by freedom_india (780002)

Let me play FoxNews plus Gonzales for a while:

1. I'm remodeling my house. I go down to Home Despot/Slowes and buy a dozen smoke detectors. Would I get pulled over for being a suspected terrorist?

Yes. You would get pulled over and charged. You need to prove to the Police and the judge beyond doubt that the detectors are for your home. A work contract signed by your contractor, a REAL ID and a passport are necessary to get discharged from the case.
Plus if you live in Montana or California, tough luck. These states support terrorism by rejecting REAL ID and thus endangering you! (endangering you by your rendition to Gitmo).

Warning. Re:This is Nothing
by freedom_india (780002)

Hey, that piece of information ought to be classified and you ought to keep your trap shut instead of blathering out in open like this.
If the terrorists read about this, then they would plan like below:
1. Come to Oak Ridge, TN with an empty 2-tonner truck.
2. Squash and drive over thousands of radioactive frogs in a matter of weeks shouting their usual battle cry "death to infi..."etc.
3. Buy a Geiger counter locally and check for enough radioactivity.
4. Skip to Mexico/border country and get a dirty bomb (I was watching "Goldfinger" Bond movie yesterday), the iodine kind which emits less radioactivity.
5. Load onto this radioactive-tired truck (of course you would be stupid enough to drive out from TN all the way to Mexico on same tires and expect same radioactivity. So you stove away the tires and buy new/used ones which are NOT radioactive to drive to mexico. When you drive back you latch on the radioactive tires).

What should Diebold do...
by freedom_india (780002)

Short answer: None. for Both ATM and voting machines.

Long Answer: I pity diebold. They used to make the world's most secure ATMs. Better than NCR.

Unfortunately the joke of a new CEO, thought that they could follow the success into election voting machines since congress mandated e-voting after the election-stealer Bush won due to hanging chads because hurricane-shocked floridans did not have enough IQ to vote paper votes better and instead spent time spray-painting walls "Go Away Isabel", as if that would make the hurricane go away by magic (the result of living near DisneyLand).

Seeing the "heck of a job" to be done by Diebold in e-voting, the CEO went about buying AccuVote even though internal auditors of Diebold pointed out issues in AccuVote, Inc. The problems of AccuVote did not go away magically when Deibold bought it (IT problems do not go away like financial problems magically). Add to that the "foot-in-mouth" Diebold joker who claimed to "Deliver Florida" to bush since he donated to Bush campaign.
